Recently launched in 2019, the Emerging Leaders board was created to get young professionals and community leaders in East Central Indiana involved in expanding awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Indiana. Along with creating awareness, the Emerging Leaders are responsible for recruiting volunteer mentors and raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Indiana. The group holds regular events throughout the year that are focused on fundraising, networking and professional development. We are interested in empowering, inspiring, defending your potential to become a future board member and leader - is that you?

Mission 

The mission of the Emerging Leaders board is to support the overall mission and activities of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Indiana organization and Board of Directors by acting as ambassadors, developing leadership skills, creating fundraising opportunities, and sharing technical skills.

Expectations

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Indiana’s Emerging Leaders board members are expected to share with BBBSECI three incredibly important assets: “Time, Talent, and Treasure” to raise revenue through fundraising, conduct mission initiatives, and our overarching mission of helping children achieve their full potential. The first priority will be to plan, form committees, and execute a Q3’19 fundraiser that focuses on dual purpose fundraising and recruitment. In addition expectations are to/that:

  • Raise $15,000 as a team (this can be done in several ways including but not limited to: Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising, Dance for Kids’ Sake fundraising, Art for Kids’ Sake fundraising, referred Match Makers, event sponsorships, etc.)

  • Each Emerging Leader board member will make two introductions to the BBBSECI team (introductions can be individuals or businesses who want to donate, those who want to become a Big, lunch and learns, and companies that want to get more involved in event sponsorships, etc.)

  • Attend 80% of Emerging Leaders meetings, including committee meetings

  • Captain a Bowl for Kids’ Sake team, recruit an additional team, and volunteer at 2 scheduled BFKS events

  • Serve as a Bigs & Brews host one time per calendar year

You will get the opportunity to join at least one of the committees. These committees will report to the Emerging Leaders Chair and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors.
